Face masks are an essential now – whether you use them every day for travel, or at a large event. But, how do you keep your makeup – and more importantly your skin – looking it’s best when you’re wearing one and when you’re not? Here are our tips..
TIP 1. DON’T SKIP PRIMER
When wearing makeup under a mask one of the most important steps you should do is to invest in a reliable makeup primer. Using a good primer will help to increase the lifespan of your face makeup.
TIP 2. OPT FOR A SKIN – BOOSTING FOUNDATION
Since your skin will be hidden under a mask for the majority of the day, I would recommend looking for a foundation or base which will show your skin some TLC while also giving coverage at the same time.
TIP 3. CONCEAL
Concealer is a face makeup product that shouldn’t be skipped. Even though it may not be worn in a traditional manner (with having your face being covered with a mask), a tip is to use concealer in a colour that is two shades lighter than your skin tone to draw attention to your eyes.
TIP 4. USE A LONG-WEAR BLUSH
Even if your blush isn’t visible, applying a long-wearing, non-transferable formula is a good idea if you plan to take your mask off at any point. This way you will have a perfectly applied blush that will stay put!
TIP 5. HIGHLIGHT
Highlighter isn’t just a product made for your cheekbones, it can also be used on your eyes to make them glow and stand out above your mask. Applying highlighter on your inner corner and under the arch of your brows is a perfect way to draw attention to the eyes
TIP 6. EMPHASIZE YOUR EYES
Eye makeup is an important step, especially if the rest of the face is covered. Your eyes are the first thing people will notice beyond the mask so this is key.
TIP 7. EYEBROWS
Shaping and filling in eyebrows are also important as they are one of the main features noticed on the face while wearing a mask. Eyebrow makeup can make such a difference to the overall look but especially when a mask is being worn.
TIP 8. TURN TO LONG-WEAR, MATTE LIPSTICK
Reliable, long-lasting lipstick is always good to have, especially when you may be taking your mask on and off throughout the day. This way you can wear lipstick without having to worry about it smudging or transferring it onto your mask.
TIP 9. SET YOUR MAKEUP
One of the most common ways to make sure your makeup doesn’t smudge or fade during the day is by using a setting spray! This will come in handy when wearing a mask with makeup throughout the day.
TIP 10. TAKE IT OFF
Makeup removal is one of the most important steps! Especially since the skin under your mask will need some extra care and attention. Neglecting to take off your makeup properly can result in breakouts and other unwanted skin concerns.
